Saw 60 minutes last Sunday evening and their pitch on Bloom Energy fuel cell technology.
I know that it exists in many forms, but my take was that it was totally impractical.
The Bush program for cars mystically disappeared in short order ...never liked the idea of hydrogen bottles being transported in a real world.

Firstly it has been reduced to practice ...several sizable installations.
Doesn't promise the world, but 50% increase in efficiency over power plants burning fuel.
Possible for electric cars using propane or better yet, ethanol
