Saw 60 minutes last Sunday evening and their pitch on Bloom Energy fuel cell technology.

I know that it exists in many forms, but my take was that it was totally impractical.
The Bush program for cars mystically disappeared in short order ...never liked the idea of hydrogen bottles being transported in a real world.

Firstly it has been reduced to practice ...several sizable installations.
Doesn't promise the world, but 50% increase in efficiency over power plants burning fuel.
Possible for electric cars using propane or better yet, ethanol

Although being a skeptic, I am impressed.

Just made a comment about this on a couple of other sites.

The whole thing seems to be a big PR push. The past week they haven't said anything that could not have been said last year - much of it years earlier.

There are no real specifics or efficiencies given - only ball park numbers and general numbers - no operations and maintenance costs over time.

The heat recovery they take credit for is not so easy as the writers assume it is.

İ think they are simply looking for more funding.
