Hello,

I miss some thread about renewable energy for transportation.
secondary energy regenerate
This energy might be converted from
solar, biomass, wind , waves, geothermal etc. and fed into batteries as electricity but also converted into hydrogen or liquid synthetic fuels.
The second option is to regenerate energy like in hybrid electric or hydraulic vehicles.

Hello Gerfried, and welcome!
Someone sent me an E-mail yesterday, saying that there area waaaaay too many forums. He suggested I should consolidate them into 2 or 3. Now you're suggesting I should add a few more...

I think your idea is a good one, but right now we simply don't have the number of users, and posts, to spread things even thinner over more forums. So, for now I suggest we keep the forums as they are, and create new ones as suggested by volume, threads, and discussion. So if you can get a lively discussion going about sustainable transportation and related topics I'll be more than happy to create dedicated forums for it. For now, this forum is probably a good place to discuss transportation related topics.

Along those lines, if you (and everyone else) could please spread the word about Green Power Talk that would be great. I guesstimate we need around 300 (or more) members to get to the point where there are enough new posts every day to keep people coming back and participating, in other words, where GPT becomes "self sustaining". For being up and running only 3 weeks I'm very pleased with the current number of members and the content so far, but more are needed!

Although it is one of the hardest things to do, getting serious renewable transportation options are the missing link in our world and time. We have several options for heat and electricity, but very few truly viable options for travel.

For those of us who live further than 10 miles from potential employment and want to keep true to an environmental commitment, this is a difficult area. So far, battery technology isn't really there yet for vehicles with 100 miles or so range in cold weather. Add in the amount of power (electric) to rechage every night and it becomes an expensive nightmare for an off grid household.

I use biodiesel in a 3/4 ton truck and have a Mercedes 300D fixer upper waiting for an engine out back. It's more expensive than gasoline, but at the moment it's my only option. I hope someday to get a veggie oil recycling thing going. On an ideological basis though, I would truly like to get away from burning anything to go somewhere.

I have been reading lately about a gasifier system hooked to a generator by IISc (India Institute of Science) and Caterpillar of India. They are using wood chips, rice hulls, and trash to power standing generators in small villages. It should be adaptable to a truck pretty easily.
