The US event to focus attention on global warming, Step-It-Up 2007, is taking place today, April 14th (http://stepitup2007.org/). There are activities in all 50 US states. I know this is a bit late, but hopefully a few readers will find something close to home that they can participate in today. To quote the organizers:
"On this historic day, Americans called on their leaders to act immediately to stop global warming. In all 50 states, at more than 1300 iconic places across the nation, we have united around a common call to action: "Step It Up Congress: Cut Carbon 80% by 2050." Your move, Congress."
