Hi all...was planning to start out with the building side of solar...definitely been doing the research...have alot of questions in regards to building it to meet specs. in case i get big enough to tie in one day. This 60 percent Ontario seems hard to do for the DIY person....as not much available online. If there is any DIY people out there with similar experiences...such as inverters...battery banks...diodes...etc...would love to correspond. I am about to place my order for cells...hope this is a fun journey.

Look for my thread on diy panels. My only recommendation is to make them strong. So far I have destroyed $200 worth of cells.

What sort of system are you building? Off-grid with battery?

Before buying any parts or picking up any tools you should first be clear about what it is you want to achieve. Defining the outcome of your DIY solar project is probably the most important step of all as it affects every other stage of your project. Some questions to consider are: How much power do you want to generate? Do you want to sell power back to the grid? Do you want to be completely off-grid? Do you need battery storage for night use or overcast days? Now is also a good time to look at the available solar construction guides to see which one is best suited to your project.
