Hello RoB,
Thanks for helping me with the Omron Over voltage Relay couple of weeks ago. I have another problem with The Aurora 3.6 Inverter. As you might remember I fried My Inverter due to over voltage. I got the unit back Thursday and installed it yesterday.
I programed the Power Curve and everything seemed to work properly. This morning I fired up the Inverter and got a Warning Code W003 (Wrong grid parameters) and then it would indicate I was within range. I checked the line voltage and it is reading 250V. could that be the problem.

Hi John,
W003 can be one of three things: At startup it checks frequency and phase imbalance. Both have a very narrow window that UL1741 requires for them to fall within. Frequency is really never a problem unless you're trying to feed into a local grid created by a generator (the utility keeps frequency very constant). Phase imbalance is the voltage of each leg of the 120V-N-120V, they need to be within a Volt or so of each other, or the inverter will show W003, I'll get back to that in a moment.
During running, while backfeeding power, the voltage will rise. If it rises above +8% (or falls below -10%) of the 'set ' value the inverter will also go offline with W003. If the inverter is set for 240V that gives you until 259V or so before that becomes an issue. Simply setting Vgrid in AuroraInstaller to 245V will resolve that one.
If you're getting inexplicable W003 errors during or close to startup of the inverter it is almost always phase imbalance. One leg of your 240V split-phase has a slightly different voltage compared to the other leg. The solution in that case is to go into the settings menu on the front panel, and change it over to 208V single-phase. Then use AuroraInstaller to increase Vgrid to 240V (or 245V, that's what I set them to before shipping out to avoid grid overvoltage errors). This makes the inverter ignore the neutral, it won't measure for phase imbalance any longer.

Hi RoB,
Thanks for your reply. I have a computer question. I downloaded the Aurora Installer from Power One, but I could not open it with my laptop with Vista System. I keep getting a 0x80070057 error message. I finally opened it with an old computer. I called Power One, but did not get answer.

Hi RoB,
I changed the Vgrid voltage to 245V and that cured the problem.
Thanks,
John

Their current version should work on Windows 7, but I have no idea if it works on Vista (or if there is a version that does). Still on XP over here I'm afraid.

If it works in Windows XP AND Windows 7, there is no good reason for it to not work in Vista (Windows 7 is Vista and a bit).
I'd suggest making sure you have all the latest Windows updates applied (including Service packs 1 and 2) and the .net versions. Just keep running Windows update until it says no more updates, and make sure you are getting updates for all microsoft products, not just Windows.

Hi Ben,
I recently spoke with Power One about this issue and they told me there is an inherent problem with loading the Install Program with Vista. All my updates are current and I have a Registry Program that monitors my computer daily. I also went to MS Forums online and none of the genesis at MS know the solution. MS is concerned about selling the programs, not fixing them, after they get your money.
