Just saw the article from the "News Desk" about the Spanish wind manufacturing company Gamesa, laying off a bunch of people in Pennsylvania. One of those factories is 11 miles from my house. Our former Governor Ed Rendell was wind friendly but now he's gone although since he started in office, we went from zero to probably over 100 large turbines in our county. There's still some momentum left. I took this photo last week of a turbine pad less than a mile from our house. Check out the rebar.

Wow, Andy! That's really impressive!
Having a person in the picture really shows the scale of those pads...

Thanks Rob, I made my wife stand there. If you look at the field in the upper left near the horizon, is where I hope to put my windmill. Going slow.

If I'm looking at the right field; those big turbines are going to be pretty close to your house! I hope the big turbines won't cause problems for you. Are there rules over there for minimum distance to dwellings/people?

No Rob, I'm 3/4 of a mile away so I'm not worried about any "Jet Wash" and as you know, I'm up and running and so far, all's well with my system.
These 16 or so "Big Turbines" are just about to go online. Unfortunately I don't know a lot about their specs but one guy running the crane told me that each blade is 153 feet long so with the hub that sounds like maybe a 315 foot diameter.
Here's more photos.
