We are a member owned cooperative running a retreat center in Central Oregon. We are looking for a team player with electrical skills. Hydro-electric experience is a plus. We are off the grid and operate our own 50kW hydro-electric power plant, use and monitor river water for drinking water, and operate and extensive geothermal radiant heating system. We offer minimum wage and benefits of living in a community.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
o 2 years electrical experience minimum
o Working knowledge of the Oregon Electrical Code and OSHA safety standards and industry best practices and regulations.
o Experience in monitoring electrical systems.
o Experience maintaining generators, and engines
o Ability to work in a group decision-making system (non-consensus)
o Ability to lift 60 lbs
o Plusses: experience with industrial electrical systems; good verbal and written communication; desire and ability to teach and train, technical documentation, proposing, planning and managing projects
COMMUNITY SKILLS:
o Interest in living in an intentional community (60-80 residents)
o Focus on living simply and sustainably in mountain setting
o Authentic and clear communication
RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Monitor hydro-electric equipment, electrical system, generators, and controls
o Communicate remotely with experienced industrial electrician to trouble shoot and problem solve
o Work with a team to monitor and maintain other utility systems
