Does anyone know where I can find an inexpensive watt meter to wire on a 240v cable feed from my standby 7000w gas generator. The least expensive I found is around $136. That seems a bit steep for a simple gauge.

I have decided to use couple ac amp meters instead. They will give me a better indication of what the generator is
producing.

If you're using ac meter then you should know that three AC ammeters in one box, or one ammeter with a switch will do what you need, even if it is not what you want.
If you are going to switch the meter, you must either use a fixed multiple CT or multiple shunt type or a very special switch that shorts the terminals before removing the meter and connects the meter to the next phase before removing the short.

Don't they make a Kill-a-watt for 240vac for the UK market? Surely you could find one on Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, or Ebay.co.uk. What about these?

This one about $14usd (http://www.ebay.com/itm/One-ITRON-WATTHOURMETER-C1S-CENTRON-240-VOLTS-200-AMPS-30-TA-steampunk-/182365451430?hash=item2a75d3f4a6:g:PlAAAOSwiYFXI3P y).
