Thanks...

Nice work Laurie!
Where do you get those springs? Do those work OK long-term, i.e. no problem with eventual fatigue cracking?

If you have any pictures that show the center 'spider' in more detail, please post. I'm interested, and it's hard to tell from the above picture.

Hey Rob, discovered after I had posted the image that it, and others, had already been posted to GPT way back in another thread:

Don't have any more closeups and it's up the pole now so hopefully the other images will be of help.

Can't recall the small company that supplied the springs (too long ago) but IIRC it specialized in springs and happened to have in stock what I used. They were in effect giant safety pins (about 6" long) so I simply cut off the springy end and bent the ends to suit. I have had no fatigue cracking (or corrosion) as of yet but springs with another loop or two would be better as the existing springs have stretched at bit from over extension and had to be initially re-adjusted a couple of times. Maybe some day I'll get some spring wire and roll my own...

Hi Laurie,
Nice to see you're still at it.
I have mine all taken apart to make the tower taller and support the generator on a better chassis. Not making much progress with all this rain!

Hey Steven, I'm not really at it a lot these days - pretty much run out of new things to try with the exception of a taller tower which is problematical as I don't have enough flat ground to move the guys out and easily lower the thing.

I hope you didn't get flooded BTW...

High and dry here, and I figure it's the same for you.

Getting the tower taller is a challenge for you and me both. My acreage has "built up" around the tower and there isn't much room to spread out any more.
