I am completely new/green to wind turbines. I have, however, found out that as far as generators go the company Ametek made some pretty good DC motors back in the day and are ideal for wind turbines. From what I understand they are pretty rare these days and if you see one you should nab it. I did manage to spot one, however, I don’t know if it’s a good choice or not as I've heard that not all of them are well-suited for wind turbine generation. What we’re looking for is low RPM and high voltage, correct? Well, in the following label I can see 3500 RPM and two volages (115 volts and 330 volts). Which one is it? Would this make a good generator for a basic wind turbine?

If its 115v you are on the low side of v per revolution. you want to be above .035. also its only .8amps, very low. It will work but not ideal

That was interesting. What about the 120-220v?

Thats normal for things like this, the windings can be configured from inside for parallel or series. it would be used at 115 in north america , at 330 it would work fine on european 220 and probably it would do fine on a multi phase industrial outlet,(seperate legs to two or more coils) how many coil windings are in the housing?...if there are only two wirers coming out its set up for single phase 120 volts.
