Hello guys! I'm new here and I guess I'm in the right place to discover interesting experiences.

I'm planning of placing a small wind-turbine. In a few weeks I probably get my permission.

Here's the setup I had in mind:
-HY-3000 (http://www.hyenergy.com.cn/product_show.asp?id=758&b=97)
-Power-One PVI-3.0 Wind-Inverter (http://www.power-one.com/renewable-energy/products/wind/aurora-wind/pvi-30-pvi-36-pvi-42-outd-w/series)
-Power-One PVI-Wind interface 4000 (http://www.power-one.com/renewable-energy/products/wind/aurora-wind/pvi-wind-interface-4000-7200/series)
-4KW dumpload to interface

Power-one said it's ok, there are more customers running an HY3000. HY said there are more customers running a power-one inverter. Already got the power curve setting for the Power-One (attachment)

The customer service of HY is outstanding. I'm very satisfied.

any experiences with HY-3000 turbines? It's a Chinese turbine, but it i didn't found any complaints about HY-turbines. Tell me what you think about the setup.

Thank you in advance!

Kind regards,
Johan S

Hi Johan,

Can't speak about the HY-3000, I have no experience with it. I do have lots of experience with the Power-One inverters and their wind interface box. They work well, as long as you make absolutely sure that the input Voltage never ever goes above 600V DC (or the magic smoke WILL escape!). That has been an issue with many Chinese turbines.

The one thing in the power curve spreadsheet that I put some question marks with is the setting for Pout Ramp: Suggested there is just 300 Watt/second. That makes for a very, very slow responding inverter (ie. when the turbine speeds up it will take a while for the inverter to catch up to the new setting). Normally for wind turbines this is set to 5000 Watt/second.

We're currently dumping our inventory of Power-One inverters. The solar inverters are almost sold out, but I do still have some wind inverters and wind interface boxes left. They are going for less than we paid for them. See http://stores.ebay.ca/Solacity-Inc

If you need help programming the inverter with the MPPT curve let me know. I've done (literally) hundreds...

Hi John, from hanging out on the internet, the impression that I get is that the HY windmills in their class, are the more reputable amoung the Chinese windmills. Do you have any photos?

Go ahead with your setup. I did a similar Chinese windmill grid-tie project and had lots if impossible problems. Wrong voltages, wrong inverter and more. Rob walked me through everything and my windmill works perfectly. Even if Rob's overwhelmed with his new building, I know he'll get back with you.

I have a 2000 watt 72 volt Chinese ebay windmill. Rob worked it out with the same model "Power One" 3Kw wind inverter that you're thinking about. I also needed a controller and used Rob's solicity controller diagram. here it is:
