Green Energy Doors Open Event - October 4th

Next week Saturday, the 4th of October, will see the Green Energy Doors Open (http://greenenergydoorsopen.ca/) event organized by the Ontario Sustainable Energy Association (OSEA) (http://www.ontario-sea.org/).

This event is about show-casing a number of buildings and structures that illustrate green/sustainable/renewable techniques. Locations that participate can be found all over Ontario. Just click the link above.

Solacity's brand-new straw-bale warehouse will be showcased, and you can come, see it for yourself!

Here are two more buildings in the same area as our new office/warehouse worthy of a visit:

Chris and Clare Weissflog are building a passiv-house in Merrickville (http://greenenergydoorsopen.ca/events/ecogenbuild2014/). It is still under construction, and very interesting! Their house will also be net-zero once finished, including the use of their (electrical) car.

The Burritt’s Rapids Community Hydro Project (http://greenenergydoorsopen.ca/events/burrittsrapids2014/).

Over here in the Ottawa area the weather is pretty chilly (and wet). A great time to see the inside of our building, where it's warm and dry. We'll be serving hot-dogs and burgers!

The first Green Doors Open event is behind us, hopefully we'll participate in many more to come!

Despite miserable weather (it was pouring rain outside) we had around 20 people visit our building. Most very interested in renewable energy. All in all a good day.

I didn't see a computer all day, because I was talking to people. It never really let up, as soon as one person left someone else wanted to talk to me. Not a bad thing, though pretty busy!
