View Full Version : My wind generator story

I was prompted on e-mail to re-engage with this Green Forum, so I decided to do so. I am very active with renewable energy, with wind generator installed, and big time solar planned, for my modest 1800 sq. ft. 'all electric' home on 2 acres. My first and initial wind generator installation was my first entries on this Green Forum (which I can't find). We did not buy from awesome Rob, but instead from a total rip off dude (Jeff Felt- Green Energy Solutions....beware) who sold us a VAWT from a huge Chinese company- Techwellpower. This product was very bad design and quality (too long of a story to write about)...it was not capable of the 6K watt output and basically fell apart within two years. We decided to keep the tower and replace the generator, so we bought the Elotec Scirroco from Rob and spent another big chunk of money to take down the old and install the new, making adjustments as needed. The Scirroco is great and the outputs have been fantastic; glad we made the change and wish we had found and talked to Rob Becker first. Now we are moving into solar, which will be the best and only way to actually get rid of my electric bill.

Welcome back Steve
I live with small wind, 1kw Bergey XL, solar, batteries, generators and also grid. I buy what I can from Rob. Not the turbine, although he probably could have sourced it for me. Great resource to have so close to home, and he has a sharp eye to avoid cheap chinese stuff.

Keep blushing!

Glad the Elotec Scirroco is working out. (but not surprised.)

I bought a 2000 watt Chineese odd voltage windmill on ebay. Got a Ginlog inverter. Called Ginlog and they said that it just wouldn't work. Wrong voltages. Bumped into Rob on the internet. He worked everything out. Still running flawlessly.

Flirted with grid-tie solar the next year. Was scared. Rob walked me through everything. Installed it with a friend. Saved 60 to 70%. Works flawlessly.

Enough!
