Just interested in finding an up to date list of which "store bought" turbines people are using or recommending at this point. I am looking to pick one up but solid information seems scarce.

Ryan, I don't really have a list, here are some of the more popular ones that I know about:

1kW Bergey XL.1 (http://bergey.com/)
6kW Bergey Excel-6 (http://bergey.com/)
10kW Bergey Excel-10 (http://bergey.com/)
100W Primus Wind Power Air-30 (http://www.primuswindpower.com)
200W Primus Wind Power Air-40 (http://www.primuswindpower.com)
900W Luminous Whisper 100 (http://www.luminousrenewable.com/index.php)
1000W Luminous Whisper 200 (http://www.luminousrenewable.com/index.php)
3kW Luminous Whisper 500 (http://www.luminousrenewable.com/index.php)
250W Tycon Systems BreezePro (http://tyconsystems.com/index.php/products/tycon-power/wind-turbines)

For what it's worth, it's that last one on the list that we sell most of. Likely because it's a bit cheaper than an Air-30/40 while delivering about the same energy over time. I've not heard of any complaints from those that bought one.

The "Air" and "Whisper" series used to be produced and sold by Southwest Wind Power, until that company went belly-up. The rights were bought by Primus and Luminous.

There are dozens more than listed, these are just the ones I deal with most. Also keep in mind that output power does not equate energy. If you are interested in more info on what makes a wind turbine tick, see my article "The Truth About Small Wind Turbines (http://www.solacity.com/small-wind-turbine-truth/)".

Rob,

Thanks a ton for that list. I am glad to know that you sell these items and have the ability to see the results of items being used.

Do you have a website to view prices on these items (assuming you do have provide a buy and install only package)?

In an ideal world they would be in our online shop (click the link in my signature below). However, we still have to input about 1000 products that we sell, and that are not listed yet. I have a new guy starting tomorrow, and guess what his job will be... It's quite a bit of work to set up each product.

If you're in Canada and would like to know pricing just use the "Contact" form on the site, or send me an E-mail with the type(s) you're looking for.

Yeah Rob, for example, I noticed your Hydro section is not quite complete. With all the info that we've shared through the years, I don't think that I ever told you that I have a cabin in a remote location with 2 potential Hydro sources.

Renewable energy gets so addicting. After doing wind and solar grid tie, all I have left is to conquer Hydro. It's just so tempting!
