Hi All =)
I need to calculate the required amount (volume) of 10% NaOH solution (in H2O) needed to fully react and extract the electric energy from X amount of Aluminum (say, 1 gram, to make it easy to manipulate). I'm not so sure about the math though. I tried using stoichiometry but am not sure if the reaction in a battery/fuel cell is the same, or as complete, as a simple reaction where Aluminum is dissolved in NaOH -- and google didn't help much. Furthermore, does the number of H2O molecules come into play? Also, it would be useful to know how much H2 is produced, along with the number of moles as well as the volume of any other products.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated...I'm flummoxed... :| ... Thanks!
