Hello to all members,

I'm glad finding this forum, in special looks like is hosted by a Canadian Company. We are located in SW Ontario and planning to retire in couple "more" years, so we started working hard at our country house.
One of the item in this adventure is the source of energy. We considered hydro from the only company available on the road....(no name here) and because of the quote received we are thinking more and more to go to a solar system 10KW.
We are not really green in this; right now our water system is using an 1.8KW system and working great for almost 4 years.

I'm at the point to purchase a generator as I need one and need some advice. The plan is to use it as source of power for the house until the solar system will be installed, and after that as a backup and also to charge the batteries as need it when the solar system will be installed. Propane is the only source available. Do you have any recommendation?
Thank you

Welcome to the forum!

For propane the popular choice is Generac's 15kW EcoGen. That is also their only model that has warranty when used off-grid (the other models aren't rated for continuous duty and the warranty is void when used off-grid). As a brand Generac isn't the best or greatest, but the competition is much more expensive.

For what it's worth...
