We've just completed a home in Tijuana Sur, Campo Torres. The beach gets a bit of fog in the am and wind starts late morning. Plenty of wind, probably enough sun. Everything in the house is LED, gas hot water and cooking, wood stove & fireplace for heat, LG efficient fridge, LED TV, humidifier, my stereo probably uses the most juice.
We're looking to become a zero footprint house, if possible at a reasonable cost (minimum 2.5 year payback).
Considering wind, we generally have 5 hours of 8-12 knots a day avg. Sun, probably the same, 5-6 hrs of decent light.
Both or does only wind or solar make more sense. Is there a well founded article out there comparing? Most I've seen are more marketing materials, self serving.
Since we're in Mexico, I'd like to see if there is a battery manufacturer here...

Hi Scott, and welcome to the forum. To get some solid data on the wind and sun, have you tried looking on-line for your local meteorology bureau? They usually have charts and/or diagrams (eg wind rose) which will show you when and how much of each you will receive, which helps do your figures.

Good luck and have fun searching round the forum.
