hello, my name is jerry bechhold, i live in the tahoe national forest completely off grid...i used a propane generator 4 years, but have recently went solar and love it....i want to ad a wind turbine ....but, have had a problem with a wind turbine that i bought on line, and am reluctant to jump into another one without first hearing back from someone who has had good luck with one....what i am trying to do is get a back up source to my solar once i get hit with snow....any suggestions....?....jerry

Check out Bergey. I have an XL1 with a Midnite solar Classic 250 controller and a Midnite Clipper. Perfect combination.

Jerry, I wrote an article about wind turbines (https://www.solacity.com/small-wind-turbine-truth/) that could help too. It's not so much about specific brands, but more in general how to spot over-the-moon claims from manufacturers.
Regarding the Bergey XL.1, it's definitely one of the better ones (pricey though!).
