View Full Version : Output Light Only? Thru Rectifier? or Hybrid Controller?

For demonstration purposes, I ONLY want to generate some kind of light as the 100w generator spins.

This is a non-standard application and use of a PMG generator motor.
I want to ONLY generate electrical energy to create or generate LIGHT...any kind of light.

I do not need(want) to charge batteries or store energy.

I have a MarsRock MarsRock 600r/m 100W 12V or 24V Permanent Magnet Generator AC Alternator for Vertical or Horizontal Wind Turbine 100W Wind Generator (12V) in a HORIZONTAL mounting application.

Currently, I am using a 3 phase diode rectifier bridge (SEE PHOTO) to direct the current

WHAT or HOW can I connect a LIGHT (any kind of light - LED, a string of LED's, Incandescent, 12v Light, etc.) to this 2 wire output to LIGHT them when the turbine motor spins?

OR >>> Should I connect the 100w generator (3-wire) to the Hybrid Controller (eliminate the rectifier) and then CONNECT 2 wires to LOAD contacts directly into a light fixture?

ANY ADVICE at ALL on how I can generate electricity from the 100w generator and demonstrate that output with LIGHT is the objective!

Thanks in advance, William

Assuming you're actually going to produce something around 12 or 24V DC, then hooking it up to a few LED bulbs would be easy. We sell 12V LED bulbs (https://www.solacity.com/product/enerwatt-ewl-leda60-4-nw/), they're actually pretty cheap, put two in series and you can run it from 24V. Even if all you get is a couple of Watts out of the alternator, it will still be an impressive amount of light!

You'll need DC of course, so a rectifier, but other than that LEDs are not very picky. There is a maximum Voltage where the magic smoke comes out, so depending on how you drive the alternator you may need some sort of overspeed protection.

Good luck!
