View Full Version : Wind Turbine in Need of Good Tables

Hi,

I am new here. Thanks everyone in advance for your input.

I have a Huaya 5KW fixed pitch turbine on a 65' tower.

I have 2 Aurora 6KW inverters and a resistor with all the safety stuff in place.

I need a set of good tables for the inverters since they came off a different (unknown) turbine.

Does anyone have a Huaya 5KW like this that would be willing to share the table you have programmed into the inverter?

I also need the access code to get to that portion of the menu.

Thanks again.

Hi Delmer,

If you have enough info about the turbine (exact rotor diameter, and at least one data point that links output power with wind speed and DC Voltage from the alternator) I can generate a table for you that should at least be in the ballpark. Any additional info will help narrow it down better.

In case you know nothing about the turbine it's still possible to generate a table, but it'll require measuring a number of parameters such as resistance of the windings, and the Volt-per-RPM of the alternator.

To get into the tabs of AuroraInstaller that show the MPPT table you need to enter code 05591.

The rotor diameter is 16.5 ft. The alternator makes 80v at 66rpm. At 102 rpm it makes 260v. I do not have any data points. The Table is under service and it is a six digit number rather than five like you sent me. Thanks

Hi Delmer,

I've never tried to adjust the MPPT table via the Service menu (not even sure it can be done through there). In the past I used the AuroraInstaller program on a PC connected to the inverter to adjust the table, and for that the access code is 05591. See https://www.solacity.com/power-one-abb-aurora-solar-wind-inverters/ (at the very bottom) for information about AuroraInstaller.

The Service menu code is specific to each inverter, based on its serial number. I can generate those codes but won't publish the algorithm here. ABB/Power-One probably doesn't want to see that in public. Send me a PM with the serial number and I'll send you the code.

Would you have a datapoint that links DC Voltage (under load), wind speed, and power output? Usually the spec sheet will list rated power, with a wind speed and alternator Voltage. That, together with the diameter, will get me enough to generate a table.

Hi Rob,

We now have a table with a number of data points on. It is in Excel.

How do we get it to you?

For the access code to the inverter you mean?
Send me a "Private Message" with the inverter serial number (click on my name and you'll get a drop-down menu, one of the options in there is Private Message), and I'll send back the code.
