Hi,

Me and my bachelor project group are currently working on a vertical axis wind turbine for highways. Being the installation in a windy place, we count on harvesting both the natural wind and the wind generated by passing cars but there's one problem: We are doing most of the work on simulation softwares such as Qblade to create the turbine and WaSP to test the turbine on the map, but we don't know how to sum the natural and car wind together.

These two softwares are made for natural wind analysis and we would like to know how to combine it with the wind from the cars. Any suggestion or reference to other work would be very useful!

I don't think wind turbines work well with turbulent, gusty wind, which is what you would have next to a road. Also, I assume you would have to place the turbine very close to the road, perhaps dangerously close.
