Hi guy,
My name is Orin, I'm very new to the green movement but very electrically inclined, as I build custom fire apparatuses. I had an idea to utilize city hydrant pressure for recovery of an existing energy storage system I have as a demo truck.
Im using a volta system and would like to entertain the possibility to recharge via hydroelectric gen setup; The truck has access to city hydrant pressure. (min 60psi >500gal/min)
In effort to reduce idle time, Ive already made a system to shutdown the chassis when not in pumper use. I want to take it up a notch and go all electric fire pump and i figured this would be a good resource.
I current got a 6module pack with about 18kw at 50vdc
it is recovered by a 3600w inverter charger 15A shore powered inlet and
an onboard 56v alternator (mounted on a cummins isl 9)
I want to get a bigger bank but recover it with hydrant pressure and use that to power the main fire pump.
Let me know if my pipe dream can happen.
Tanks!! (pun intended guys)
