Hi Peeps,

it's been a while since I was on here for sure. So long in fact that I've forgotten how to use the Aurora Installer software :o Anyway after much messing about installing it onto a new laptop and eventually finding the lead to connect it I sorted it out, I think  Anyway what I'm trying to do is limit the output of my inverter to 2500W so I copied the curve that was installed up to point 13 which was 1950W then set point 14, 14 and 16 at 2150W, 2250 and finally 2500W.

Seems to have worked but will it limit the inverters output and where will the extra power go:confused: I'm guessing it'll be dissipated as heat via the dump loads:idea:

Need to limit the output cos I've AC coupled it via an Outback GVFX 3048 and it's not happy when the turbine is producing over 3kW.

Cheers, Paul

Paul, yes, the maximum you set in the MPPT curve will limit the inverter's output. If your turbine produces more than the inverter will use as a load on the turbine it will go towards speeding up the rotor of the turbine, until it comes apart. If you have a setup where the rising Voltage kicks in a dump load then the extra will go there once the conditions are reached where the dump load kicks in.

Cheers Rob,

I'm using Proven/Kingspan turbines so the running off load isn't so much of an issue but my overvoltage protection Windy Boy Protection Boxes divert to dump loads when the voltage reaches 400v on my small turbine and 500v on my larger one. I never really had satisfactory results with the Aurora Wind Interface, they seemed start braking too early.

Thanks, Paul
