Hi chaps,

my Aurora 3.6kW wind inverter has just developed a GFI riso fault does it just refer to an earth fault on the DC side? my turbine seems to be generating AC wild OK.

Hi Paul,

Yes, the message is indeed a ground fault on the DC side. Power-One/ABB has a guide to troubleshoot these (they can be hard to find): https://www.greenpowertalk.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=1054&d=1353935400

My experience has been that these ground faults are real, and not the result of some artifact or a broken inverter. That's not to say something couldn't be wrong with the inverter, just that it's unlikely.

Good luck!

Hi Rob,

I'm mystified, been working in my shed all day right next to the inverter. I tried looking at all the connections yesterday with no luck. Today I checked the JB at the bottom of the tower, it looked OK but was resting on the ground having been disturbed by a pig! Still showing GFI fault light and riso. Then a few hours later (as I was watching it) it just cleared and reconnected to my grid  Thanks for the link, I shall study it with great interest as I'm not convinced it was that JB at the tower base.

Cheers, Paul

Blame the pig!
Stay away from the RE stuff on penalty of becoming Bacon!
