NEWBIE here.
I have a 10 year old solar PV installation which is working well. 10 years ago when very keen I monitored the output power using the RS485 link and the Aurora supplied software - Aurora Communicator V2.9.2. Have recently tried to use it again but no answer from polls from PC. I have tried two different RS232-RS485 converters but still nothing.
Can I use the USB output, with an appropriate converter etc, or should I just give up on the idea of monitoring?

Hi John,

The USB connector on the inverter should work the same as the RS232/485 link, the issue may be finding the right drivers for your PC. I have drivers for Windows XP, but that's the latest version, nothing newer I'm afraid. When you connect a USB cable to the inverter the port needs to get recognized as a virtual COM-port by the PC, and from what I remember it's not a standard type that would auto-load (some unusual Texas Instruments drivers were needed for it).

Hopefully someone else on the forum has more up-to-date experience!

Cheers,

-RoB-
