Hello - An Elder here but very interested. I have built my own house - designed in 1974 and almost finished. Chinese proverb - "Man who finishes house dies". I will try to last out as long as I can, although it is getting hard to climb tall ladders now. As part of the process I installed a three panel residential solar hot water system in 1984 - a drainbacksystem which is still working today albeiet with some minor clitches. I have used two hot water tanks in fifty years providing witness to the efficiency and effectiveness of the system. My neighbours go through their hot water tanks every ten years or so but since mine hardly has to work it last so much longer. I found this space (Green Power Talk) as someone was looking for information on Norsun/ Nortec systems. My wife is a remarkable paper organizer and she not only keeps a lot of paper but she keeps it in an organized manner.. I have ALL the information on Norsun / Nortec - installation / process / brochures / warranty info/ troubleshooting /location help etc. I have also built in provisions for a wall of solar panels - either PV or heat but am procrastinating because there is no way to recoup the investment at my age. To build it would only be for the enjoyment of building it - which I do often. I have room for 16-18 panels against an 8' stone wall facing due south. To date I have been spending more time doing research than implimenting - double faced / helical / sand batery / direct use / stored energy / etc.
This summer I will be building my second elevator for the house. This one 20' high with three stops in the verticle height.
TBContinued.

Welcome John
You'll enjoy this forum. Very friendly, lots of information. You must have a wealth of knowledge that we will mine for ourselves.
I thought I had an old system, started in 2004, but you make me feel brand new
