The new Pharox lamp

Lemnis Lighting has introduced a new LED-based lightbulb that emits a beautiful warm light and is shockingly energy-efficient. This new 3.4 Watt lamp has a 90% lower energy consumption when compared to a standard 40 Watt light bulb. The new LED lamp, named Pharox, has a life span of over 50,000 hours and can be used in and around the home. The Pharox lamp emits a warm white light and is environmentally friendly when compared to other LED lamps, as the production does not include phosphor.

Wilco, do you have a link for this bulb?
I'd love to see LED bulbs come of age. It would be nice to have bulbs that last forever, and are efficient! Still some way to go though. CRI of them is horrible, cost is a problem too.

By the way, most LED lights are not all that efficient. In terms of lumen/Watt they range all the way from the efficiency of halogen bulbs to better than CFLs. Most that I've looked at were somewhere between halogen and CFL in efficiency. People get tricked by the low Wattage rating, so, yes, it uses very little electricity. It produces very little light too though (for most of them).

Their info states it's 60 lumens per Watt. That puts it just around (or just under) a compace fluorescent. So, in essence you're getting the light output of a 3 Watt CFL bulb.

I think I'm going to wait a bit longer before swapping bulbs...;)

It is comparable to a 40W incandescent bulb. I am waiting for the comparable 60W bulb. The promising part is the life expectancy compared to CFL.
I think manufacturers do not want to have the perfect product unless is a $100 a bulb. Just wait and see...
