This site has good information though you might want to pick a more specific link as this one goes to the root of their hydro topic: http://www1.eere.energy.gov/windandhydro/hydro_technologies.html. It's a subset of the US Depart of Energy called "Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy." Its a bit basic at times and rather encyclopedic overall, not sure if that's the type of thing you want.

Hi Rob,
yes it's been along time not writing.
However the pedal-powered-pump I am developing has made a quantum leap in performance // evolution.
I love the design & invention process ; so I make it to my best idea; test it ,look at it, try & break it ;then a new developement idea occurs.
Right now I have the 'new model' assembled & ready for action.
But the real world intervenes ; I have a commitment to a brilliant student doing her thesis @UniTechSydney on the stator//diffuser [velocity energy-> pressure energy] ~Hydraulic grade lines ~ towards more efficient turbines.
Another couple of weeks to complete this & I will continue on the demo rig I propose;which has the pedal pump lifting ~2m then dropping into a penstock for a mini-hydro using F&P 'smart-drive' PM generator to light the lights in transparent pump/pipes & 'show the World what "flying foils in fluid" can do.
"Water Tricks"
I need to "Go Bush" for a while also. Too long in the city!
I'll keep you posted.
