I live in Rockky Mount, Virginia. My brother in law has two large ponds on his property and where they are dammed there is an 18" pipe draining the water back into the stream. There is quite a bit of head preasure. We want to build a water wheel and turbine to generate power in hopes to supply his house.

Please keep us posted. Hydro is a great source of energy if are lucky enough to have it. Unlike solar and wind it'll go 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and that adds up quickly. Even at low power (though who knows, maybe you have lots of power in there!).
