Most solar thermal systems only use a fraction of the energy available to them for DHW or home heating. More advanved systems are used for both hot water and home heating but this is still only taps a small part of the solar potential. Heat has many applications such as germinating seedlings in March, drying fruit any time of the year, drying lumber, drying paint, curing pottery and cement. Heat can also be used to generate bio desil fuel, methane and ethanol.
In other words solar heat can be used as a source of energy to power a factory and generate income. Let's make better use of "Our Big Sun" and create green jobs in the process.
