Have they found a better way of storing hydrogen yet? Other than under high pressure (which even in a pretty large container stores very little hydrogen)...

The storage issue is one of the "hydrogen economy"'s biggest bugbears. No methods of storage, including others such as palladium adsorbtion, are all that practical. Add to that the fact that hydrogen itself is not an energy source, its propensity to leak, its high explosive concentration range, complete lack of ifrastructure etc. make hydrogen, in the view of many, to be a v questionable endeavor.

Maybe this might be an encouraging sign.

This is an interesting topic also. I had a friend of mine a while back ask me that if we knew how to make the hydrogen cars why weren't they being marketed to everyone ? So I asked in reply, "If you had one, where would you fuel it ?". The problem of logistics and infrastructure escaspes many people. All you have to do is visit a place like Mexico and it becomes clear. We take gas stations for granted. No one thinks about how long it has taken us to build a gas station on every corner. I drove down to Xklak, MX from Playa Del Carmen and suddenly realized how much I took gas stations for granted. From the last station outside Tulum, even the tiny, efficient car I was driving was running on fumes before reaching the next fuel stop, a guy with a hut and a drum with a hand pump.

Even if we settled on an alternative fuel for propulsion today, the logistics of installing fueling stations is a monumentasl task. All these quickie marts didn't spring up overnight.
