Hey Rob, does Power-One still carry the Aurora MWI-5000 line of inverters for Canada?

Hi Martin,

Nope, they killed that one off. Justifiably so IMO, those units had lots of issues.

For MPPT battery charging the setup is now to use "AC coupling" with a grid-tie inverter (Aurora or WindyBoy) backfeeding a regular battery based inverter (works great with Xantrex XW's since those are natively 240V split phase, see attached application note). I wish there was an MPPT based wind inverter for charging batteries directly, at the voltage and power levels needed (the Midnight and Outback controllers don't quite hack it). Have not found one yet...
